Be careful with your words.
Be cautious when you speak.
Don't toss around some promise,
you know you'll never keep.
Contract in your pocket.
You've signed the dotted line.
Now creditors backed up for miles.
Tough luck if they were blind.
Too bad, too bad, so sad.
You broke your promise.
Standing at the altar
for the matrimony thing.
One day family tossed aside,
got to have your little fling.
Too bad, too bad, so sad.
You broke your promise.
There is One. Keeps His Word.
Does what he says he'll do.
He died for broken promises.
Every breath that's been untrue.
He promises to be with us.
Promises to take us home.
Promises grace and mercy.
Promises to return.
So good, so good, all good!
Jesus keeps his promise!
It also bears a mention,
grace is free, but it's not cheap.
When you promise to walk with Jesus,
there will be costs and reckoning.
You got to turn away from falsehood.
Be a person of your word.
Turn your back on the Deceiver.
Be set apart to serve.
Now, maybe you're like me.
Your lips lead you to doom.
You have the best intentions,
but your words cause only ruin.
Even there, our God steps in.
He helps us mend our ways.
He sends his Spirit to aid us,
to speak words of truth and praise.
To run the race before us,
to finish well, the fight.
To build up those around us,
with words that lead to life.
So good, so good, all good!
Jesus keeps His promise!
