I am with the Shepherd. He cares for all my needs. Daily bread. Quiet protection. His love surrounding me.
I don't worry about him leaving. He's always close at hand. When I was young and prone to wander, he traced my reckless paths.
Ever gentle. Always kind. He bandaged all my wounds. He reminded me he loved me. I grew to love him, too.
Now, my days are growing short. I depend upon his care. I rest against the Shepherd. There's nothing I need to fear.
for reference, see John chapter 10 in the New Testament where Jesus calls himself the "Good Shepherd". Note the things this shepherd says he will do for his "sheep". No one is outside of his care. No one.
