When I stand before you, my knees begin to shake.
My lower lip is trembling.
There are no excuses I can make.
I've denied you. I've defied you.
I've misused, abused your name.
I've been prideful, so unmindful,
of your goodness all my days.
I haven't been the man you wanted me to be.
Now, with my chin against my chest
I can only whisper, "Mercy."
Jesus spoke about something like this in Luke 18: 9-14. Two people praying in church. One “good” guy. One “bad” guy. Their prayers were polar opposites, and each prayer was viewed quite differently by God.
Jesus came into the world to save sinners. He will not reject your plea for mercy.
